Europ-Cop Search Engine
As an alternative to standard web search tools such as Google, we provide a specialised search facility. The focus of the Europ-Cop search engine is on equipment and technology issues that are relevant to community policing and proximity policing. This means that when you use the search box on a Europ-Cop web page, you are searching the web (not just the Europ-Cop website) but the results give higher priority to those concerns.
How does focussed search work?
Our search engine uses a Google Custom Search Engine. This means that the search is performed by Google on their database of web pages, but the rank order of the results reflects the issues that the Europ-Cop project is concerned with.
Try it out …
To see the difference between standard searching and the Europ-Cop search engine, try this:
- Type some search terms, such as police cctv, in the search box below and press the [Search] button. Keep the results while you run the next step.
- Open a new window or tab in your browser, and run exactly the same search in your usual search facility, maybe Google or Yahoo or whatever. When the results appear, compare them with those from the Europ-Cop search.
